Pokemon in Garasu
Let's just jump in with the most interesting aspect here: in this setting, worldwide, Pokemon have the ability to talk and communicate with humans. They can talk. To some, this might seem like jumping the shark, but this both works to put the full setting in mind and, at the absolute minimum, gives characters more personalities to bounce around for dynamic conversations and different perspectives to work with.
And with talking and an express personality closer to humans comes a greater weight in society: some Pokemon can get individual paid work, some more competitive spirits appeal to tournament level trainers for professional fights, and some just try to live their own lives!
Of course, that's for more the domesticated crowd: the wilds are still the wilds. And as much as Pokemon have independence, a number of them have no qualms with being a part of a family, loyally following a trainer, or working with a partner to increase their own strength.
Pokemon Politics
That being said, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that the relationships between the Pokemon and humans in Garasu are somewhat strained (in part due to the observed subservience of some Pokemon under trainers, but there are several factors involved here!). The detail here won't be too involved and will build along with the world, but just consider it a point to keep in mind when writing.
