A short but triangular machine smoothly whirred through the arid Orrean wastelands. A large, conic, and blackened "windshield" provided a second shield for the driver. Sand blew out of the filters and burnt against the exhaust. Any closer, and sand would've turned to glass.
On one side, barred by a black protective shield and held down by seat belt, would be none other than the well-coated Madelyn. With her legs moving up and down, she could've flown out of the seat. On the other, Alyssa smirked, as she watched her hover-bike, her beloved Chopper, tear across the wasteland debris. Ordinarily, Alyssa would have kept to an office. But with the inevitability of expansion into the wastelands - and how work would only follow these new outposts - Alyssa refused to be a dinosaur in changing times. Getting credit for aiding a wasteland? There's a second plus for going out, right there!
Even more importantly, however? Alyssa always loved an excuse to test her Chopper. Even now, for a mission in a location so destitute-!
Her other passenger took to sightseeing. Ordinarily, she'd be perked up about any rock that stood tall, or looked vaguely like a Pokemon. But once she saw green, no shortage of green, her eyes widened. She called out immediately! "Oooh, la-la~! Lookie there, Allie!" Alyssa looked straight forward, only to see nothing. A clarification: "By your other side!" A final jest: "Dibs on the water!" Alyssa smirked, though knew this'd probably been a pipe dream. It'd been some time since she'd even seen a Desert Raider, let alone a village. All Alyssa could say: "Maybe." The Cherrim made a whimper, but she knew well it may not have worked.
Maybe the Cherrim had a point. To be certain, Alyssa checked her way-finder application to make sure...of which, yes, this seemed to be the place! "Coordinates line up! We're stopping here!" Even in Overcast form, Madelyn could be heard cheering from her pod! Alyssa's boot, thick and brown for desert-wear, slammed the brake, and the hoverbike begun to make a hard right towards the oasis. She'd taken some care to land the hoverbike a short distance from the trimming. Alyssa may have driven quickly, but being a dick to oasises was not something she wanted on her rap-sheet.
On one hand, Alyssa. With some sifting through a large trunk, she found her document held in something of a 'priority folder.' Ignoring her standard munitions and tools for these desert-trips, Alyssa took the brief flyer and shut the trunk. She barely stopped to think of the ramifications of Maybe she'd be paid in artifacts. The thought did not last long, as she asked nearly robotically: "Hello." A second call: "Responding for a Mr. Ritter?" Her clothing, which'd been a padded version of safari garb (complete with the matching tag-hat!) only barely legitimized her presence. Madelyn already begun to trot onto the ground, ever-desperate to touch the sweet-grass in the desert. Alyssa called: "One moment, Madelyn-"
Then, Madelyn stepped foot on the oasis-grass.

The grass made a very pleasant rustling as Madelyn stepped on it. All around were large palm trees, forming a sparse canopy over the area. The foliage was interspersed with thick bushes and blue flowers that were so tiny and vivid they looked like specks of paint dribbled across the green canvas.
Peering out from behind a bush to greet her was a small petilil, inching forward out of curiosity. She didn't dare leave the bush though, and stayed silent. She could make out a green and purple pokemon still in the hoverbike, which made her smile. She guessed it was a cherrim. They always had a very simple beauty about them.
After a couple seconds, a wispy old man made his way through the brush. Despite his age, he moved quite quickly and had a voice full of energy and warmth.
"Ah, you must be the specialist!"
Two days ago, Edward learned that a spot near the oasis used to be a waste site for Sibrunn. The paperwork was dense and full of jargon, but as far as he could tell, there was a chance that there could be barrels full of toxic sludge buried underneath. This could be a huge problem for him if he ever wanted to use the natural groundwater. Without delay, Edward badgered a bureaucrat until one of them gave him a number.
"Thank you so much for coming all the way out here. It really is a pleasure to have visitors. The more people that know about this place, the more support we can get. With your help, we expect to establish a whole ecosystem here right beside Garasu. Wouldn't that be wonderful? Ah, I wish you could meet the rest of my team, but Grandius and Wyndra are scouting out south of here for some more native tree types." Edward reached out to shake her hand as he spoke.
"Hi. Is that a cherrim?" Hattie finally spoke up. She half-whispered it before she skillfully maneuvered to behind Edward.

On one hand, Madelyn dove right into one of the bushes! She spoke to her Trainer with a vibrant voice: "Come on, Allie! You'll miss out!" Even her Overcast form started to disappear. Granted, that may have had to do with the sun coming out more than any positive emotion - though Alyssa figured, that may be worth looking into.
Alyssa had been far more careful than her Pokemon, who. In retrospect, she shouldn't have been that cautious; this may've been the first jungle Madelyn'd ever seen. Even she felt cruel to snatch the opportunity from her. Still, Alyssa shifted her eyes from side to side, trying to check for other stray Pokemon - aside from the shy Petilil.
"Yes sir." Sage meets engineer. What with his traditional garb, Alyssa figured this meeting could've been a wild-card. The fact that he called probably meant any discourse would be productive. "Dr. Johan. A pleasure." Her hands rose to her sides, here. She could definitely respect the level of care that Mr. Ritter granted to his oasis.
He got a bit distracted about it, though it did make her aware of the increase in Pokemon. Again, his project was one of a large scale; this time, she excused it. Hand extended for a handshake, one rather firm on her end. However, once his lip closed, hers would open: "Understood; it is a noble goal. Now, as for your problem, Mr. Ritter..." She glanced at the report. "From what I gathered, you're reporting a risk of contaminants breaching the water supply."
She then lowered her papers, which'd mostly been administrative or referential in nature, and spoke more directly to Ritter: "Do you know what the land had originally been used for?" While chances were she could find that out in a trivial amount of time, she'd have a better idea of how to act.
Tumbling around long enough, a brightened Madelyn reached out to the Petilil. "Hi! What's your name, cutie?" Madelyn would've loved the company of a resident, here, even if it involved getting closer to the Trainer! Alyssa Madelyn

Edward recalled what it was exactly that he had seen when he was shuffling through land records.
"Sibrunn used it to bury, umm... clyclodendrision toxin, umbral ribosomal solution, shadow-tainted wastewater, and something listed as just 'sludge mixture'. I do believe that industry practice at the time was to just put everything in steel barrels and forget about it."
The old man shifted from foot to foot as he spoke. He wasn't sure he was getting the names right. How important were the names?
"At any rate, it was pretty much used to ignore things that never should have been made."
Edward realized he should have just kept the papers he saw. They probably would have given more useful information. It looked like Alyssa had her own papers though, so maybe he was just worrying about nothing. The old man took a deep breath, and relaxed. Everything would work out in the end, he told himself.
Meanwhile, Hattie initially shrank back from the approaching cherrim. She brightened back up after being called a cutie. The petilil considered herself lucky to get to see a cherrim change formes. She thought the process was beautiful in a poetic sort of way.
"Hi," She repeated, "I'm Hattie. What's your name?"
The petilil gradually came out into the open. The cherrim was friendly enough, and Hattie wanted to make a good impression. It was better, at least, than hanging out with stuffy old Grandius or the gross-looking Vogun.
Vogun, the weepinbell, was currently making his way from side of the oasis. He was stationed over there under Edwards orders. Edward had learned not to have the weepinbell greet visitors by himself, and wanted to delay him a bit. The weepinbell didn't say anything upon reaching the gathering, and just observed the conversation.

Alyssa held her notes to corroborate with Edward's. He seemed to be fumbling with his. But the substances Ritter listed, as evidenced by her trying to suppress wide eyes, were no laughing matter. The sludge seeping into the groundwater would normally be the worst of it, but that list of horrors had far more pressing problems. Circular nervous-system poison? Shadow RNA synthesizers? She could not leave that thread loose, and asked Edward: "Mr. Ritter, could you please confirm that list of materials?" She checked her own to be sure, but when materials could poison minds, Alyssa did not want to lay any ordinary siphon.
She wasn't sure if Ritter forgot, the landowner did not properly specify these risks, or both. (Probably the latter, moreso.) His second comment earned a nod - probably not good - but she realized the material may not have been known. Unknown, unless they were labeled on the barrels. Barrels which probably faded at that point. Alyssa, taking a slow breath of her own, found herself glad to have brought her safety kit...
---
On a happier end, Madelyn rushed out to address the native Petilil, a bright smile flushed across her face: "Maddie works! Nice to meetcha'!" Maddie-Hattie it would be, then! The Cherrim slid right towards the Petilil, "So, take it you've been here a while?" With a tilt, she'd lent an offer quickly after: "Feel free to show me around!" She couldn't just leave her acquaintance in the dark! Why, this seemed to be the poor Petilil's first chance to lead!
Neither party caught Vogun lurking about, however. Alyssa might've glanced at something yellow, but figured it to be a banana tree. There'd been a lot of those...

Could he confirm it? Edward decided to try to be as up-front as possible.
"No. I can not confirm those materials. In my shortsightedness I neglected to keep a copy of the report that I saw. The cyclo-whatever could easily be anything that sounds like that. I can confirm that at least some of the materials had shadow properties."
There was a reason that this was being done while Wyndra was away. Edward didn't want some nasty chemical suddenly worsening her condition. Unfortunately, Grandius or Wyndra would have been better at remembering this sort of thing.
"If it helps, I actually went to see site myself. There's a short fence with some barbed wire, so I wasn't able to get very close. There wasn't any vegetation at all, and only a couple gliscor flying overhead."
Edward motioned toward the lurking weepinbell, drawing Alyssa's attention to him.
"Vogun was there. Do you remember anything else?"
The weepinbell would have preferred that Edward let him assess the threat of these outsiders. It would have been much easier to strike if he needed to without being brought in to the conversation. Edward seemed to prioritize his memory over his threat assessment though, and Vogun respectfully deferred.
"The smell," Vogun added. "There were hints of something wretched seeping from underground. It's not soil I'd want to grow in."
---
Meanwhile, Hattie and Maddie were having their conversation at this point.
"Yeah, this is pretty much my home," Hattie responded, "I'd love to show you around. I've been learning what all the different plants are. The pumpkin vines are right over here, although we've yet to grow a pumpkin yet."
Hattie led the cherrim to the left, along the pond. She worried if pumpkins were interesting enough, and hesitated slightly. It's not like much happened around here; how was she supposed to impress new friends if the most news was a lack of pumpkins?
"Beside us here is the pond, ...obviously." Her voice had a slight tremor to it. Of course Maddie could see the pond, there was no need to point it out.

On one hand, Alyssa let Edward speak on behalf of his garden. It'd been. But there were some common factors that
"Sounds about right. If not, thankfully, the actual material can be tested." Her voice had been rather monotonous, though one could tell from her expression that the area'd been shocking. It'd be a long warp to get that stuff over, but it could definitely be done! She continued, "Regardless, it seems clear on both reports that there's highly volatile Shadow material."
The Gliscor comment prompted further action: "Couple Gliscor? Are they aggressive?" She adjusted a hat that flailed against the wind. Toxic scavengers of Orre somehow found a way to make even the most wretched poisons a source of fuel. It seemed even the Shadow chemicals hadn't been an exception. In any case, she really needed to come to a consensus about strategy, if there were Shadow sycophants about the waste dump. The Weepinbell may have drawn her attention, but even he managed to confirm the clear point:
The area'd been used as a dump for Shadow materials. The thought formed a slight knot in her stomach. This needed to be looked into.
"Well. In any case," she said, "We should view this area. If there's anything else I should know about that particular area, let me know." She did not expect to encourage an old man to ramble, though the circumstances appeared genuine enough. But then knowledge was power, and the more she had, the better-equipped she'd be for fights. Chances are the site was not so far away as to prevent a strategy from forming. She put papers back in a survival bag.
Based on her blank expression, pushing away a nearby fly, Alyssa'd been ready to get her hands dirty.
---
Maddie and Hattie practically isolated one another from discussions of the oasis's well-being.
"That's awesome! What kinds of plants've you worked with?" As the two walked on, Madelyn embraced the lush view of the oasis, looking at just some of the strange desert plants around. "Ah, that's alright." There wasn't a whole lot to talk about with the pumpkins, especially since she lacked the experience to comment. At least, with a straight answer: "Maybe it's just taking its time to grow. They can get huge!" She didn't dabble enough in gardenwork to provide a straight answer. Once she saw the pond, she knew she had to watch it. A lot can happen, new oasis or not, so she offered to the Petilil: "Here, come sit with me!" She laid by a particularly large vine, granting her and Hattie a favorable view of the area.
She could see the lake, but didn't have a reason to make fun of the poor Petilil for it! "It's so clear! Ever jump in one of these?" Before she could give a demonstration, she realized! Oh! With a flatter tone, she asked Hattie: "Oh! This water good to drink?" The science'd been all but lost on Madelyn, but she knew the word toxin did not mean well.
(OOC: ok so a Gliscor chase-off/fight actually sounds kinda fun)

"I really don't know. We didn't get near close enough for the gliscor to see us. I do believe that's everything then. I really can't think of anything else I know about it."
At least, he hoped he wasn't forgetting something. He glanced at Vogun, but the weepinbell didn't have anything to add either. Well, they'd have to make do with the information they had. Edward noticed Alyssa starting to pack up. This is normally when he'd get a ride from Wyndra or even Grandius if he wasn't in a hurry. It's not like the site was too far away, but it was enough that an old man would rather not walk the whole way.
"I don't mean to impose, but is there room on your hoverbike? I don't seem to have transportation at the moment."
Edward had forgotten that Madelyn and Hattie ran off.
---
The petilil obliged Maddie, and happily sat beside her by the vine. She really appreciated how nice the cherrim was being. It was nice to be accepted by someone she admired, although it also made her super nervous.
"No, I can't say I've ever jumped in it. I don't think my leaves look as pretty when they get wet and droopy."
Hattie racked her memory to answer the next question. Did the cherrim want to play in the pond? Would having a drinkable pond impress her?
"I don't remember Edward ever saying not to drink it. I'm sure they caught the problem early enough."
The petilil made her way down to the bank and gave the water a cautious splash. Everything seemed okay.

"Understood." Well, that her client didn't know anything was also good to know. It'd be her signal to watch out and run, should things go south. Gliscor weren't known to be Pokemon to be toyed with. Not even their pre-evolution in Gligar would be worth that much.
As the Weepinbell and his Trainer had little more to add, Alyssa gave a closing note. "Sidecar's got plenty. Adjust at will. We can talk strategy on the way." Technically, she wasn't wrong; there'd been plenty of room for Ritter to lay in the vehicle. A larger Orrean would've struggled.
She gave another to her relaxing Pokemon: "Maddie, you stay safe!" With an automatic "Okie!" With a blink, Alyssa slid back in her hover-car seat, and waited for Ritter to prepare. The ride would be slower with Ritter in the sidecar, but perhaps for the better - she really didn't need to rush to deal with Gliscor.
---
Madelyn shrugged after giving the confirmation. "To each their own!" Prim. Madelyn looked for a word to describe the polite-end of the Petilil's shyness, and she found it in prim. Trimmed to a T, right down to the floral-patterns. Around rough-riders like Checkerface and Nauru, and watchful eyes like Alyssa, she almost forgot there were self-minded orderly folk. Maybe, Madelyn thought, it'd be good to let the Petilil experiment for a bit...
At the same time, Madelyn took the comment with a little more seriousness. Some things weren't worth compromising. A fight loss, whatever; a disease, not a chance. It seemed she shrugged again, and charged right for the pool!
"Cannon-ball!"
Maddie prepared to jump, but slid instead, and splished the water! "Heh!" She turned, just to see how Hattie reacted.

Edward got in, and then adjusted the sidecar to allow Vogun to fit as well. The weepinbell appreciated that Edward wanted him for the mission. While he was glad, he also hoped it wouldn't come to a fight. Gliscor held a slight type advantage over him. He climbed in behind Edward.
"I think we're all good to go here," the old man affirmed.
Edward beamed. This whole problem would soon be taken care of, he had no doubt. Progress was being made. A comfortable breeze wafted through the oasis, as if the land itself mirrored Edward's outlook.
---
Maddie's antic splashed Hattie. Her leaves indeed got wet and drooped slightly. Hattie worried about them for a second, but shook it off. Her new friend obviously didn't care, and she'd have plenty of time to straighten them again later. The petilil contemplated the water for a moment before jumping in beside the cherrim, splashing both of them further.
"Haha. This is great!" The petilil bounced around, wading along the shore.
Eyeing a nearby blossoming lilypad, she got an idea. She dove under the surface and came up right underneath it. The large flower became a fancy hat.
"Look! I evolved!" She shouted. Hattie then assumed a mock fancy tone. "I formerly invite you to join me for a spot of tea, made only from the fallen petals of the most powerful roselia in all of Orre."
It was slightler deeper where Hattie was, but still shallow enough for the small pokemon to stand up right. The surface of the water here had a thin layer of soft green algae.

On one hand, Alyssa hadn't had a good reason to kick the engine into gear. The other party was ready, so she checked the engine. A few qualms about their chances sprung, however. She'd pulled out some base information on Gliscor to view on autopilot, just to get a grasp on what she'd be fighting; not all scorpion Pokemon were clear to her. First of all, the information she had came from five years ago, and the differences in movepools could be quite drastic. She'd have to stay distant until she'd be aware of the Gliscor's strategy. Chances are, it had little to do with an actual, well, Shadow Gliscor.
On the other hand, turning back, Alyssa had more worries about an attack from the "home" front. A Petilil, no matter how friendly, probably won't help Madelyn in case of an attack. She wasn't really sure. Well, she could have contact with the Cherrim from here.
"Understood. You lead the way." With Edward's okay, the hoverbike engine roared and balls of sand clustered around the bike. Alyssa set her speed slower than for the distance she took. As she kicked that up, she mentioned to Edward: "We're going to stay a good distance from their territory, to begin. Until we can confirm these Gliscor are peaceful, or if we come to another conclusion, I think we should stay in the hoverbike." she said, initially. None of her Pokemon on hand had a strong type advantage; just a will to knock down some invaders.
--- Not one bit did Madelyn mind the Petilil's leaves getting wet. It seemed it took a while for her to set up, however, which's why she hesitated going as all-out as she might've. Seemed she took it alright, though. But she gave a wink to the Petilil for making that jump, and a signal: "I know! It's refreshing, right~?"
But Hattie's diving sparked some curiosity. She wasn't sure what to expect, maybe she found a lotad...but it was better. Clever, very much so. At first, she responded with a chuckle. Heck, an approval: "Yesssss." But then, she dove for a water lily of her own. And with that settled on her head - well, after saving herself from a fall - she spoke with strong gusto: "Why of course, ma'am! And perhaps this tea should come with the finest, most explosive dance, learned from SEVEN! Continents!"
Madelyn enjoyed that, whether it'd been a stereotype or no. A closer inspection at the pond drew parts of Madelyn that she hadn't used in quite some time! "Hmm! You've even got algae-bloom?" She looked at the green algae, briefly, before tipping her water lily back to Hattie. "I don't know a lot about these places, but it seems the ecosystem's pretty well-rounded here!" Well shoot...maybe Madelyn still had some material in that brain of hers!
Maybe!

As Alyssa sped off, they left behind the lush oasis. The soil gradually became sand. The grass became yellow and sparse, before disappearing entirely. Out in the wasteland, the few isolated plants were either covered with hostile thorns or twisted into dry, scraggly shapes. Edward directed them along the ridge of an impressive canyon.
"It's only about a minute from here," he explained.
Near the canyon, the ground shifted again. This time the sand gave way to smooth sedimentary rock, lined with a web of cracks and fissures. The walls of the canyon were streaked with rich layers colored like a perfect sunset. Each layer had it's share of ledges and depressions, where the occasional pokemon nest could be spotted.
Up ahead, the group could make out the place of interest. Most striking was the two-meter high chain link fence. The unnatural rusty gray contrasted against the mild beige of the desert. Beyond the fence were a couple buildings just on the perimeter. The buildings were perfectly rectangular, and used to be a perfect concrete off-white, but they had taken a yellowing hue after erosion and discoloration by the sand left its mark. In the middle of the whole complex was a shallow depression in the ground, where a massive hole was dug and re-filled.
Sure enough, two gliscor and one gligar circled overhead.
---
"Oooh! I'd love that!" said Hattie. She was very interested to see what the cherrim had in mind for a dance.
In response to the algae, Hattie clarified, "Actually, we have to make sure that the algae doesn't take over the pond. Grandius is still working out different kinds to get the balance right, and in the meantime sometimes Vogun has to remove a bunch of it. Edward says we'll get a scientist soon, and that will make it all easier."

To a point, Alyssa would follow Ritter's direction. For the most part, Alyssa absorbed herself in the rock stacks and barren soil of the wastelands; as the stone started to crack, the terms of the problem solidified. It seemed she went unheard, though attributed that to the volume of the hoverbike more than anything. But then she managed to crash into a tumbleweed, fragments blowing over the whole area! The grittiness of broken tumbleweed left Alyssa to spit on the ground. Even if fairly settled - perhaps even comfortable - in the arid desert, her tongue wriled at the plant.
But that reaction paled in comparison to that of the buildings'. Alyssa shook her head and adjusted her tag-hat, and yet she could not deny its presence. Alyssa cringed parsing over possible connections to Cipher. While not a scholar of architecture, nothing looked legitimate about such a modern-looking building, seemingly abandoned. The chain fence was manageable by comparison. The hoverbike slowed further to mark this more careful approach, and about one-hundred metres' horizontal distance from the flying Gliscor, Alyssa brought her hoverbike to a pause. That kind of circling couldn't be anything but territorial.
All around the hole that struck Alyssa as the target.
As the hoverbike came to a stop, Alyssa shifted through a belt of six Pokeballs, drawing out one for another Pokemon. Standing at a head below Alyssa, arms folded, a Chesnaught appeared by her side. Low brows and a clean shave defied his boisterousness, as Checkerface swore: "Oy bloody vey. One of these joints." He turned his head to Ritter, before looking back to the Gliscor band. "No reason to wait, then?" Hands twitched and muscles bulged, as it seemed the Chesnaught attempted to bulk up.
Somewhat flustered, Alyssa flashed a polite, directionless smile. However, she did ask Ritter and Vogun, "Before we proceed: do you know if anyone else lives, or does business, here?" She had no problem cutting through property, but she wasn't ready to abandon ethics to raid some uninformed sod's property. As Alyssa strung the reams of soft diplomacy, Checkerface looked up at his potential adversaries, just daring one to come down.
--
The Cherrim seemed to flip her energy into a more direct response: "Alright! Then, we'll start~"
Initially just playing Ludicolo to Hattie's Lilligant, Madelyn decided to follow play this role a little further. A foot stepped towards Hattie, and a vine extended; the Cherrim attempted delicate movements, like a tango. While Hattie had more to say, she figured this'd be a good start - whether or not the Cherrim had a little less grace than the Chesnaught. But her responses weren't nearly as brutish: "Ah, alright. It sounds like a lot of balancing." As the intensity of her dance increased, curiosity sparked another question: "Does Vogun find anything interesting, along the way? I can just imagine him siphoning through, like those old-school panhandlers?"

The fractured tumbleweed started a coughing fit for Edward. He had been distracted the second before, and inadvertently breathed in some of the harsh plant. It took him a worryingly long time to recover, enough that Vogun looked concerned. Eventually, Edward pulled out of it.
"Ugh. Sometimes I'm reminded of my age. Let me know before we burst anymore of those."
His mood stayed more muted than usual as the group approached the buildings, although he was pleased to see a chessnaught. He held a respect for the hardy grass-type. Vogun shuffled out of the sidecar and joined Checkerface. The weepinbell was also impressed, and considered it a pleasure to work alongside him.
"No," Edward answered Alyssa's question, "I haven't seen anyone else live out here ever since I started. Sometimes business is done, but never in this part of the wasteland."
Checkerface stared down the gliscor, and they responded. One of them swooped down and issued a warning. The peircing screech would abrade away at the defenses of the intruders. Thankfully, Vogun had it covered. The weepinbell projected an energy barrier around both of them, reflecting physical attacks.
---
Hattie did her best to follow the cherrim's movements closely in the dance. It took her a moment to get the rhythm right, but soon she was confident enough to even add a little twirl to the motions.
"Hmmm..." The petilil searched her memory for an answer, "Once Vogun found a piece of a hoverbike sticking up from the bottom! It was a long tube, I think. We wondered if we could find the rest of the bike if we kept digging, but we didn't want to tear up the whole pond. That was a while ago."
Because of a dramatic dance move, Hattie's lilypad slipped off of her head.
"Oh, oops." The petilil blushed. "How do you dance so well?"

The travel continued with silence, mostly, give or take a nod from Alyssa. Hopefully, she would not need to worry about these wicked plant-forms any longer.
No business? She had her suspicions, which left her to confirm: "Thank you. Unfortunately, this does not look good for the landowner." Chances were, Leaking Shadow fluids kind of constituted necessity, here. "In which case, we have to bring th-" Screech brought Alyssa's teeth together, and her hands by her ears. The ear-splitting screeches of wild left Alyssa with a headache. Her more rigid tone suggested this: "Checkerface, by the building. If they get closer, bring them back down to Earth."
Meanwhile, Checkerface had been quite happy with the Weepinbell. Small, relatively, but astute. Their kind had to stick together in terrain this unforgiving. He said plainly: "Thanks mate. This sandgobbler's got it comin'." Broad arms contracted, revealing a set of pins. He positioned himself around the building, trying to find the area closest to it, before prodding at a tear in the fence.
Alyssa inspected the perimeter, and would drive about accordingly. Alyssa held her other hand onto her other Pokemon's Pokeball, just in case the need arose.
---
Madelyn kept the standard pace, for then, as it seemed Hattie needed some time to follow her groove. But, as she did, the Cherrim lit up, petals exposed! "Hm!"
"The mouther?" Madelyn didn't correct herself, and instead wondered how far this digging would go. "One part of a bike, or a whole parking garage? Seems like the case's still open!" But Hattie got Madelyn - just the part about tearing the pond apart left Madelyn giggling. Giggling, which led her to trip! Stumbling for a moment, the Cherrim practically kissed the water before she took position again. Madelyn could not claim to be the greatest dancer - even if she had every right to be! - though she could certainly try!
But she could understand her methods. Waving a hand, the Cherrim explained: "I watched my feet. When you know where you're stepping, you can do more with your dance!" She stuck out a leg, and twirled around to Hattie's side.
Well, she could verbally explain to an extent.
