Maxim Laboratory
This laboratory never really did quite as much as some of the other labs. Instead, they put a lot of their effort into marketing and presentation. Their pokemon were "advanced" through eco-friendly means, and using only renewable resources. Despite the small output, they were hugely successful among Garasu's upper class. They were one of the last labs to be shutdown, due to the small amounts of public support that lingered around them.
The compound itself is comprised of many smaller buildings connected to each other by covered pathways. There used to be force fields around the compound to protect against weather while still allowing fresh air to circulate, but these barriers have long since broken down. The insides of the buildings are meant to look as futuristic as possible. The walls are built out of sterile-white hexagon panels. One panel is every room has a power icon, which can be tapped to bring up a holographic screen and keyboard connected to an internal computer. Most of these no longer work, but someone with the right skills could get some use out of them. All of the furniture is the same clean white, and has an unnecessary streamlined shape to it. The chairs are pods and the tables are oval. Many of the ceilings in the room have vast skylights of thick glass.
The generator for the compound is a unique feat of engineering. It still runs, actually, and is as eco-friendly as the company claimed. Nowadays, though, it's a whole lot more trouble than its worth. The generator consists of over one hundred evolutionary stones suspended in a magnetic field in a chamber a half-mile below the center building. Geothermal energy spins the magnetic field, causing the stones to give off an energy that is not fully understood. Thick cables used to deliver this energy to the various buildings, but now the energy just keeps building up into the environment.
The energy buildup has caused thick, thorny vines to snake over and through many of the buildings. The tough wasteland plants easily push through the hexagon panels and crack the glass skylights. The energy buildup also causes frequent localized storms, ranging from hail, thunder, and blinding sand tornadoes. The energy attracts dangerous pokemon, especially around the central building, making it almost impossible for any ex-employee to shut off the generator. Rarer, stranger effects have been occasionally reported, but none of them have been verified.
