Khail is a licensed and approved operator of a Snag Machine, a device capable of adapting Poke-Balls to ignore and overwrite the electromagnetic indicator on Pokemon tying them to a specific ball. The Snag Machine is also able to remove trainer registry from Poke-Balls already holding Pokemon. And for both proper use of the machine and for general enforcement purposes, the Snag Machine is able to disrupt and remove fields generated by the Ferrous BSi.

The fact that he is able to use it does not mean that there aren't several barriers to use (politically, anyway), and it is meant for true need or emergency. While equipped, the machine takes the shape of a black glove with a small red globe on the back of the hand, a single, knitted wire snaking up his arm and sleeve, to a power supply strapped to the shoulder.


Personality:

At least in the professional sense, several years on his line of work has given Khail a rather candid eye. He is a man who knows both how to read faces, as well as put up a strong mask of his own. While he's on this professional high, his level of focus can make him seem quite intimidating, even to his closest allies and friends.

Of course, it isn't wise to mistake Khail's 'learned' personality completely with his actual face. Though his humor is dry and his expression serious, Khail is at least able to hold extended conversations with most people, especially in matters talking about the city. He likes to keep a big picture with everything, and it isn't uncommon for him to have 'a cup of coffee' with someone he just met that day.

Just don't expect him to be opening up every door to his personal life on the first few conversations!


Appearance:



Although perhaps a little grandiose in pose, Khail does not stick too far out of the norm when compared to others from Orre. His hair color is a light blonde, worn somewhat long to be past his ears and his eyes a dark hazel. His history and profession have given him somewhat of a serious look chiselled onto his face, perhaps causing just a slight bit of unease when Khail catches you out of the corner of his eye. Of course, this varies. Standing at 5’8”, and fit for both his age and height, he generally holds an air of confidence around himself that naturally imposes on the situation.

Khail's usual wear defaults on 'professional but casual' for his situation. Its common to see him wearing either a blue or black blazer, and comfortable, matching slacks - he doesn't stick to a uniform, but keeps his badge in his pocket. Matching it with well worn dress shoes, Khail has just enough to look out of place in a crowd. (Of course, as this is dress, it can vary wildly: if need be, he'll be in riot gear).


Personal History:

• Born in Phenac City, 28 years ago, in Phenac City. Khail lived a relatively simple life up through about the age of ten.
• 18 years ago, at the ripe age of ten, Khail receives his first Pokemon - an Abra - and starts learning the basics to becoming a Pokemon trainer. He is a trainer of moderate success, at least with people around his age group, but is still trying to figure out his niche in life.
• 16 years ago, Khail joins the Pre-Gym in Phenac to more properly round out his skills as a trainer. For his few years training here, he is eventually given his second partner, an Absol who had taken to his gentle treatment of the Pokemon around the gym.
• The naivete of being a Pokemon expert couldn't last forever. 12 years ago, at the age of sixteen, he begins looking into options for his future. His extensive work with the Pre-Gym gave him enough connections to start working for Orre in proper, ironically getting contacts through Cipher - then, a pure ally of Orre.
• 10 years ago, finally of age, he starts at the bottom of the ladder as a government operative, largely working with general patrol and the occasional group raid. Through this, he is assigned his first partner, a Misdreavous with a keen sense to look through walls...
• And 8 years ago, he is promoted as an individual operative. Through his work here, he is assigned Vespiquen, a rather protective and ruthless Pokemon. This was largely a promotion of necessity, as around this time, Snagem and Cipher moved into high gear.
• Khail's success in raids does not go unnoticed. Six years ago, after Cipher's first failure, Khail is promoted once more to that of a Snag Operator. Back in these times, the use of the machine was far more necessary...
• ... As he snagged several Shadow Pokemon over the years. In a rather eventful raid of a Pokemon holding facility, Khail meets a Jolteon, along with several other captive Pokemon. And by the Jolteon's insistence, Khail is pretty much forced to take him on.
• Around 2 years ago, with Cipher's second failed project, the use of Snag Machines becomes far more rare and individual newsworthy events. Taro Khail is assigned to Garasu to 'keep an eye on the place'.
• NOW: Khail remains an operative in the city. But what came next, remained to be seen...

"Hello. My name is Guru, and I have been a friend and partner to Khail for eighteen years, this coming Thursday. After being his partner for so long, all it really takes is a shift in eye contact for us to communicate, at times.

As for myself, well, you might call me the analytical type. I'm candid and dry, something I picked up from Khail, and the attitude has given be the nickname 'grandpa' among the crew here. Well, as long as Khail's around, there will at least be someone to appreciate my tone... though if you fancy a board game, I might give you some time.

Anyway, that's enough about me, let's hand it off to the bruisers. How 'bout you, Jolt?"

"Hey, I guess this is the place to explain myself? Alright, cool, the name's Jolt, and I've been a pain in Khail's side for quite a few years now. Ya'see, I got caught up in some bad stuff, a damn mess stuck in some cage for this 'Cipher' group. Every other day or so, I was pulled out to fight some other ‘mon, and all I knew was that the weaker ones were pulled out into the back. It wasn’t just as simple as winning, though: anyone on a hot streak was pulled away as well, never to be seen again. All I knew, was that I had to look average as possible back then…

… But, as luck would have it, ‘Khail’ here showed up one day. Raided the whole place, too: Pokemon were cut loose, running out left and right, as this weird dude raised a mess. So, sick as I was of it, I helped him out, and we’ve been tight ever since! I owe my life to him, so the least I could do was stick around in a ball for him, at least for a while.

Oh yeah, I'm a shadow... and I'm not really hesitant to use the stuff, either. Heck, I'm hard-pressed to remember a time that I wasn't like this, so forgive me if I'm short with ya. Let's just say I have a short fuse if you touch me the wrong way...

"Hi there! I'm Abigail, and I've been along with Khail ever since his nerdy days at the Pre-Gym - don't worry, Guru and I like to joke with him a lot about that! Anyway, I've been around Khail for a good 16 years at this point, and through the highs and lows, a lot of good has come from it!

Though, there's been a lot of scary stuff too: if you said when I met him that I'd end up digging through the cells of some shadow Pokemon lab, I would have just laughed it off like a bad joke. But that's exactly what it came down to! And I'll tell ya, it really makes you straighten up, fast, to survive in those conditions!

As for a bit about myself, I guess you could say I'm the 'considerate' one of the group - though don't get me wrong, I'm not below taking your ankles out should Khail need it. Jolt's like a good younger brother, and Guru - did he already say he was a grandpa? Because he is.

Hello. My name is 'Titan', or at least that's what everyone ‘round here calls me. Most say that I have a bit of a violent streak, but I’d call it something more like a ‘short fuse’. Actually, pretty much anything that isn’t Khail sets me off, save for Abigail on her better days. And even Khail barely lets me out, and then its just for fighting!

Hm? Abigail? Oh… oh, yes, I did sting them last time, didn’t I? Well, alright... look, I was assigned to Khail from the Orrean government, and he knows how to use me: if ya need something taken out, quickly, I’m your ‘mon. Now, that’s about enough out of me. Here’s someone whose probably more into this whole thing…”

"Hey, I'm Dread, otherwise known as the 'necessary evil' of the group. I came along the same time as Titan, and have grown into quite the respectable member of Khail's roster. I’ll be frank: you’ll rarely see me around the other Pokemon here; after all, I was assigned to Khail for a very obvious reason.

And that is recon. As a ghost, it’s my job to scope out, gather information, and return safely. My orders are little more direct than Abigail’s, given the precision that I am able to operate, but there is little that will stop me from getting what I need. And I don’t leave a trace, don’t even take notes or take the papers with me.

And let me tell you: despite appearances, I know Cipher isn't quite done yet, and I’m glad to do what I can to expose its dirt to the world. Khail’s got quite a job ahead of him, and I’ll be at his side until the end. But, as you might tell… well, Jolt generally things I have a ‘stick’ up my ‘something’. But that’s not true, I can be fun! I can be…
