[/ul]Character Guidelines
As you will see elsewhere in the mechanics of this site, 'Shattered Psyche' does not force you to start off as a new or re-tread trainer, though you certainly can if you want to. No, you may make a character as someone on any point in their Pokemon journey, as citizens of Garasu, as members of the defunct shadow project, and beyond! Of course, they need some reason to be in Garasu and the region of Orre, and your character won't be able to have absolutely everything. So, when it all comes down to it, let's go over the following...
Restrictions
Trainers are limited to five Pokemon, of which only one may be a Stage 3. Keep in mind that not all of your Pokemon need to be related to combat! (And on that note, if you wish to only play as the Pokemon, creating a single application for a group of five or less Pokemon is perfectly fine).
Legendary Pokemon are not applicable as characters or trainer Pokemon. This includes Type: Null, Silvally, the Ultra Beasts, and all 'sets of three'.
Characters are limited to having one 'Shadow' Pokemon.
Characters may only have one item off the following list:
- A Z-Ring with 2 Z-Crystals, allowing for a single, powerful move per fight.
- A Keystone with 1 Megastone, allowing for an ascended Mega-Pokemon for the fight.
- A Synergy Stone with 1 Bonded Partner, allowing for a short-duration, high-power transformation once per fight.
((Wait, what's that last thing? Also introduced from the Ferrum region, a Synergy Stone takes a trainer's bond with one Pokemon and, in activated state, heightens their abilities for a short time. Pokemon that can Mega-Evolve do so, but only for the three post duration that the burst is activated. Afterwards, both the trainer and Pokemon are highly fatigued.
Bonded shadows are likely to go into Reverse with the use of a Synergy Stone.))
The Perk System
Enough about restrictions, though: let's get to the cool stuff! The Pokemon world is full of fun surprises, from psychics and seers to performers of unbelievable feats, and to recognize that, each character will be allowed one 'perk'!
This 'perk' will be a unique thing that either your trainer or one of their Pokemon will be able to do or perform outside of the norm, within reason. Do you want to have a Smeargle that can sketch shadow moves? Go for it, that's your perk! Do you have a second mega-stone and can use both in one string? That can be exempted and allowed through your perk! Even minor psychic powers can be run through here.
That said, there will be some things that will be restricted and count as your perk, and even have their own rules tied, the most notable being 'Operator of a Snag Machine' or 'Ability to Purify'. Perks should also include highly technical skills, like the ability to hack terminals and objects or other 'uncommon' prowess: the rule of thumb is 'everybody gets one'.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
